TELLING YOU ABOUT SPORT FOR THE BLIND AND PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DEFICIENCIES.

The following paragraphs are to give you an idea about the sport for the blind and people with physical deficiencies.

In order to facilitate the understanding of blind athletics and deficient people, we are going to develop the different categories as well as the possible adaptations which have arrived throughout the times to have as much similarities as possible to the Olympic Games.
The classification of the categories will be realized on the degree of vision of the athlete, there are three classes B1, B2 and B3. This classes will be always applied in competitions that are for blind and deficient championships , whereas a championship with the rest of the incapacities and an example would be the Paralympic games,  the B1 happens to be T11, the B2 happens to be T12 and the B3 happens to be the T13. Talking about races, F11, F12 or F13.When we talk about a competition will be p11. Finally P12 and P13 when we talk about Pentathlon.

• T11: Blind athlete or with vision very reduced, who, needs the help of a guide to practice any proof.

• T12: athlete who has a bigger degree of vision that have no need of a guide.
They can do the proof by themselves and that’s because they need no help of a  guide. Although they can ask for help if they think it’s necessary.

• T13: athlete which has a degree of greater vision to the one of the B2 athletes, but without getting 100 per cent of this.

DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES BETWEEN:

- Races: The adaptations in the subject is found at the time of forming a series of B1 or B2 in which 4 athletes will only participate. This is because we will need two streets for the B1 athlete because he/she needs the help of a guide, we have to take into account that the track has 8 streets, in case it had  6 series would be made up of 3 B1 athletes with their respective guides; what is more all the B1 athletes must run with a mask or with glasses that totally covered their eyes.
On the other hand. Most of the blind athletes run joined with their guides by a cord, although there are other less used methods. In the case of the B2 athletes he would be equal to the one of the B1 and it doesn’t depend if the athlete asks for guide or not, because of for his/her degree of vision will be a free street between athletes. It is in the B3 category in which any type of adaptation does not exist being the equal series to the one of the valid athletes.

- Jumps: As in the disciplines of long jump and in the triple jump, the unique difference is founf in the table of beaten. Whereas to the valid athletes they have a table of 30 centimeters (which 20 cm are valid and the last the ten would be null) by the width of the track, for the B1 athletes and B2 this table will be of 1 meter by the width of the street, this table will be marked then with a white lime so that at the time of the search the track of the athlete will be noticeable, being, a real jump, since it will be moderate from the track marked in the table. Like in the races, the B3 athletes do not need any adaptation. Talking about B1, they could have two assistants in track, one that will be put in the zone of search, that will be the one that guides the athlete during the race of the jump and one second person who will indicate the athlete where the race start.

- Launchings: Tests in which less differences are found in relation to Olympic Games. The unique difference that we find is that either B1 or B2 can have the help of their coach to do the launchings.

- Relief: Nowadays it is a test that is developed just as the one of the court favorites. The unique rule that we can find different from the valid people is that the equipment must be compound of an athlete B1 and another B2.

Sport for the blind and deficient lines of vision cannot realize all the tests that arranges the IAAF, these tests are: those of fences, the 3000 obstacles and the jump of pole.

EVOLUTION OF THE COMPETITIONS.
Athletics for blind and deficient people have been improving through the years. Nowadays athletics for blind and deficient people is like  the athletics for valid people.

Years ago the athletes of the B1 category ran the 100 single smooth meters, they ran without guide and had all streets of the track for them. They were guided by the voice of two trainers, one that was put in the middle of the 100 and another one was placed in the goal. Nowadays the races of 100 meters are realized as we have explained above.

Talking about horizontal jumps B1 jumped without race, they jumped on together feet. But it has been improving until getting to the normal jumps form.

The test that more steps has done until be as the valid proof is the relief. A long time ago one left 20 meters of zone in which two of the components had to remain inside at a moment (they did not carry witness). In 1995 the zone was reduced to 10 meter like the zone of the valid athletes, but the execution continued being the same. In 1999, instead of both athletes remaining at a certain moment in the zone, the rules said that there must be a one of the components in the zone. And in 2002 already one began to realise with witness, being developed like a normal relief.

All the rest of the rules are by the regulation of the IAAF.
